Investment Analyst

We are excited to be partnering with them to bring an Investment Analyst to their team in either Saint John, NB or Halifax, NS. Reporting to the Director, Investments, this role will support the Investment team and play a key role throughout the complete investment process across all asset classes, including fixed income, public equities, alternatives, and private equity.



Responsibilities will include:

• Providing analysis of internally and externally managed portfolios.
• Preparing regular investment reporting and analysis, including:
  • Daily and weekly portfolio reviews.
  • Monthly performance reporting.
  • Quarterly investment reports for the Board of Directors.
• Conducting research projects to identify and analyze investment themes and opportunities.
• Assisting with the ongoing development and enhancement of investment-related processes.
• Utilizing Bloomberg terminal reporting tools to perform holding-specific and portfolio-level analysis.
• Supporting the annual review of Investment Policy Statements.
• Assisting in the evaluation, sourcing, and implementation of new tools to improve and automate processes.
• Building and maintaining relationships with Ocean Capital's investment managers and advisors.
• Monitoring investment activities to ensure compliance with Investment Policy Statements.
• Staying current on economic developments, market trends, and investment-related news.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in finance or related fields.
• 3+ years of experience in investment and/or financial markets.
• Currently enrolled or an interest in enrolling in the CFA program. 
• Experience with Bloomberg terminals will be considered an asset.
• Experience in Private Equity and Alternative Investments, including interaction with external managers, considered an asset.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or similar relevant to finance would be an asset.
• Strong comfort level with investment software and evolving technology.
• Demonstrated interest in Investing and Financial Markets.
• Analytical thinker with an aptitude for numbers and mathematics. 
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Excellent attention to detail and quality of data. 
• Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to work and think independently.
