As a member of the Community Services Department, these positions support recreation program offerings at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre. Applicants are required to select which roles they are interested in applying to via the application questionnaire and may be considered for all positions under this job posting. CHILD/YOUTH INSTRUCTOR

Additional information: 1-10 hours per week, September 2025 – September 2026
$19.80-$21.68 per hour PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
As a member of the Community Services Department, this position will create lesson plans and provide instruction to recreation classes for preschool, children and youth. Topics could include art, science and recreational sports. Highschool students are welcome to apply. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Represent the City of Belleville in a professional manner with appropriate actions and conduct.
- Responsible for the safety and supervision of the participants and to ensure the rules and regulations set out by the Department and/or outside organizations are followed.
- Responsible for the planning, development, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of the activities being led to ensure a successful program.
- Ensuring their participants’ names and health conditions/modifications are known and that attendance is taken each class.
- Ensure the completion and submission of all required administrative forms (lesson plans, injury reports, supply requests, etc.) as per the Department procedures.
- Responsible for problem-solving when issues arise and providing quality customer service.
- Assume the responsibility for assessing and responding in an emergency situation and completing the necessary reports as per the Department procedures.
- Responsible for the proper handling, cleanliness, and care of the equipment, supplies, and facilities and to report any damages or losses to the supervisor.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings and trainings as required.
- Current Standard First Aid and C.P.R. certification
- Satisfactory Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
- Minimum 2 years’ experience planning and leading children/youth programs
- Excellent Customer Service skills
- High Five – Principles of Healthy Child Development certification
- Post secondary education in child/youth related field of study
- Coaching/Instructing certification (ie. National Coaching Certificate)

This position will lead participants (in their designated recreational program) in a variety of general or special interest activities in a friendly, engaging and caring environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Represent the City of Belleville in a professional manner with appropriate actions and conduct.
- Ensure the safety and supervision of the participants by following all rules and regulations set out by the Department and/or outside organizations.
- Follow the prescribed program plans through the implementation (leading), supervision and evaluation of the daily activities, to ensure a successful program.
- Responsible for the completion of attendance and any required paperwork as per the Department procedures.
- Assume the responsibility for assessing and responding in an emergency situation and completing the necessary reports as per the Department procedures.
- Responsible for problem-solving when issues arise and to provide quality customer service.
- Ensure the proper handling and care of the equipment, supplies and facilities utilized, and reporting damages or losses to Programmer.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the facility at the end of each program.
- Attend all staff training sessions and scheduled staff meetings.
- Minimum enrolled in Highschool, or equivalent
- Current Standard First Aid and C.P.R. certification

Additional information: Shifts are for PA Day Camps and School Holiday Camps (Christmas/March Break), September 2025 – June 2026
$16.36-$17.05 per hour – STUDENT POSITION PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
As a member of the Community Services Department, this position will assist the Camp Leaders to provide safe supervision and to organize and implement games and activities for children ages 4-17 years. These leaders are responsible for extra hours (opening and closing camp each day), Leaders’ lunch coverages, along with trip supervision. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure the safety and supervision of the participants and follow all rules and regulations set out by the Department and/or outside organizations.
- Assist with the development and implementation of the daily activities.
- Assist with the proper handling and care of the equipment, supplies and facilities utilized, reporting damage or losses to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assist with the daily cleanliness of the facility.
- Communicate with fellow leaders and parents, as required.
- Be involved with the completion of the required administrative forms.
- Be required to participate in daily activities with the campers (including swimming).
- Supervise participants during the extended hour service, when scheduled.
- Act as a Junior Leader if qualified and as required.
- Attending Staff Training and scheduled staff meetings, as required.
- Minimum enrolled in Highschool, or equivalent
- Current Standard First Aid and C.P.R. certification
- High Five – Principles of Healthy Child Development certification
- Satisfactory Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
- Babysitting Course/Training
- Bronze Medallion swimming qualification
- Completion of a Leader-In-Training program

$17.50-$19.11 per hour PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
As a member of the Community Services Department, this position provides assistance to the Skating Instructors for our Learn-to-Skate programs. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the safety and supervision of the participants and for ensuring the rules and regulations set out by the Community Services Department and/or outside organizations are followed.
- Represent the City with professionalism by following all of the Staff Policies and Procedures set out by the Department.
- Must be knowledgeable of City Programs and have strong public relation skills.
- Responsible for providing skating instruction and feedback to students and their parents for the City’s skating programs.
- Assume the responsibility for assessing and responding in an emergency situation.
- Responsible for administration and paperwork for the City’s skating programs.
- Attend all training and staff meetings as scheduled.
- High school, college, or university student
- Current Emergency or Standard First Aid and C.P.R. certification
- Satisfactory Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
- Skating experience
- Experience working with children
- Coaching/Instructing certification (ie National Coaching certificate)
- High Five – Principles of Healthy Child Development or Older Adult certification
- Enrolled in a post-secondary school in a child-related, recreation or related field of study
- Previous experience as a leader in a skating lesson program
RECRUITMENT PROCESS:
Stage 1 – Interviews: Interviews will be scheduled with successful candidates for early July 2025.
Stage 2 – Offer letter and Onboarding Paperwork: Offers are expected to go out by the end of July 2025, and an onboarding paperwork date will be included in offer letters for documents to be returned.
Stage 3 – Start Date: This anticipated commencement of this position is September 2025 until August 2026.
