Family Physician - Anesthesia (Contract) (Estevan)

Job Description

The community of Estevan, located in Southeast Saskatchewan, is actively recruiting a family medicine physician with enhanced anesthesia skills to support anesthesia needs in Estevan and Weyburn.

In addition to providing 1‑2 days per week of anesthesia services, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to provide additional services such as community primary health care, inpatient and long‑term care, and emergency room care.

As a member of the surgical services team, the candidate will provide an equitable share of on‑call anesthesia services in a 1:3 rotation.

St. Joseph’s in Estevan is a fully accredited hospital with two operating theatres, a labour and delivery ward, a 24‑hour emergency room, an inpatient unit, a diagnostic imaging department with a CT scanner and a dialysis unit. Relocation Package

• Relocation funding (return of service required) – up to a maximum of $75,000 over three years for family medicine residents and those pursuing R3 programs who will work full time in rural, regional, or northern Saskatchewan.
• Up to $200,000 over five years for family physicians practicing, or returning to practice, in rural and remote communities in Saskatchewan.
• Financial reward to physicians who practice in the province for extended periods ranging from $7,000 to $14,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Certified with the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
• Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.
• Acceptable enhanced training in anesthesia (e.g., third‑year residency in family practice anesthesia).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Successful Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) credentialing, including acceptable reference checks and a criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening.
• Current Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage.
• Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
