Household Assistant / Personal Support Worker

I’m looking for a friendly, reliable Household Assistant / Personal Support Worker to join my small support team. I am a woman living with progressive MS, and I’m looking for someone who enjoys helping others while also taking initiative to keep a household running smoothly. The role is a combination of personal support and household assistance. While personal care is part of the job, much of your time will be spent helping with everyday household tasks that allow me to conserve energy and maintain my independence. I’m quite social and regularly have appointments, meetings, and visitors in my home, so I’m looking for someone who enjoys interacting with others while also being comfortable working independently when needed. What you’ll be doing Personal Support

• Assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed
• Helping with dressing and personal care during times when my symptoms fluctuate
• Assisting with transfers when required (I am generally able to stand, pivot, and transfer independently from my wheelchair)
• Supporting me with light stretching and movement exercises

Household Assistance

• Meal planning and meal preparation
• Laundry, including carrying laundry up and down stairs
• Light housekeeping (vacuuming, sweeping, tidying, kitchen clean-up, bathrooms, dusting, etc.)
• Grocery unpacking and general household organization
• Helping keep the home running smoothly by noticing what needs to be done and taking initiative

Required Qualifications

• Updated flu shot preferred
• General good health, as both my husband and I are immunocompromised
• Physically capable of carrying laundry, groceries, and other household items up and down stairs
• Physically able to vacuum, sweep, perform light housekeeping, and assist with transfers when needed
• No driving is required, although having your own transportation is helpful since we live a few blocks from the nearest bus stop

Caregiving experience is an asset but is not required—I’m happy to train the right person. I’m looking for someone who is a quick learner, dependable, and interested in becoming part of a supportive, long-term team. Due to the nature of the personal care involved, a female support worker is preferred. The ideal candidate is friendly, flexible, and enjoys helping others. You’re someone who notices what needs to be done, works well independently, uses good judgment, and isn’t afraid to jump in and help wherever needed. Confidence in the kitchen is definitely an asset! If you enjoy cooking and like getting creative with meal planning, that’s a wonderful bonus. One more thing: Our household also includes one very friendly cat, so you’ll need to be comfortable around cats. Shifts & Hours

• 2–3 shifts per week
• 4–6 hours per weekday shift
• One 6-hour shift each Saturday or Sunday, approximately 3 weekends per month (days/times are flexible)
