The employee in this classification is responsible for the supervision, coordination and leadership of the day-to-day activities of SaskPower Employees to ensure efficient and effective daily operations.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Supervise, coach and train staff and monitor and participate in staff performance evaluationAnticipate, coordinate and monitor work of assigned staff, while engaging others in order to reach goals and objectivesProactively anticipate potential problems, identify core issues and draw accurate conclusions to resolveAct independently and responsibly in order to make day-to-day decisions independent from direct supervisionFollow through on tasks using a methodical approach to decision makingCoordinate and implement departmental strategies, employee work plans, schedules, coaching, on-going feedback, performance reviews and professional developmentProvide departmental leadership, promote teamwork and initiate staff development and performance objective management in order to develop and sustain a high level of employee and departmental performanceParticipate in day-to-day work activities, including administrative and communication functionsLead the development, implementation and maintenance of processes, standards and procedures including training delivery and supportMake recommendations to improve employee work performance, and improve efficiency, effectiveness and quality of serviceAdhere to and enforce applicable safety and environmental practices, standards, regulations and corporate commitmentsParticipate in continuous educational and professional development as requiredOther related duties, as assignedKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Interprovincial Journeyperson Powerline Technician Certificate, or equivalent AND;
Two (2) years of relatedDistrict Operator experience as a Journeyperson Powerline Technician, or equivalent AND;
Ability to supervise andfoster a team environment to obtain maximum performance from staff engaged in a variety of assignmentsAbility to work collaboratively with, mentor and coach various internal and external personnel at a variety of levelsExcellent communication, coordination and organizational skillsAbility to handle all situations in a professional and courteous mannerAbility to develop relationships and engage and influence othersAbility to deal with pressure and conflict, while holding people accountable and recommending solutions to difficult situationsAbility to prioritize and coordinate a number of diverse items in order to accomplish assigned tasksExcellent computer skills with proficiency in the use of the corporations standard softwareValid Class 1A driver's licenceThis position falls within the scope of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 2067.Candidates under consideration may be required to participate in an assessment process consisting of any/all of the following: interview, abilities test, case study and/or presentation.
