Service Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION

On behalf of our client, Insight Global is seeking a driven and organized Service Manager to support a busy trucking operation in Timmins, Ontario.

Salary $85,000 - $105,000

Day to Day Responsibilities

• Oversee daily shop operations and step in when the General Manager is occupied, ensuring smooth workflow and strong production output.
• Support technicians on the floor by coordinating work, helping move trucks in the yard, and bringing units into the shop using a loader (training available).
• Operate in yard equipment and, ideally, perform test drives when required — DZ license is highly preferred.
• Assist during peak winter periods by retrieving trucks from the yard when staff are tied up.
• Open and manage work orders, learn customer accounts, and support customer communication and service coordination.
• Help set up the shop for efficiency, organization, and safety.
• Build strong relationships with customers by listening, understanding needs, and ensuring service expectations are met.
• Contribute to a positive, multicultural shop environment with mechanics from diverse backgrounds.
• Potential relocation support available for the right candidate willing to move to Timmins.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Service leadership experience — Ready to step into a true management role (not hands on wrenching).
• Trucking or heavy equipment background — open to a technician looking to take the next step into leadership.
• Mechanical knowledge — Able to understand repairs, workflows, and technician needs.
• Strong customer communication — Able to work directly with customers, manage expectations, and support service delivery.
• Organizational ability — Capable of structuring shop operations, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining order.
• Leadership and people skills — Patience with mechanics, ability to support a multicultural team, and maintain a positive shop culture.
• DZ license — Highly preferred for test drives and yard movement.

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience managing a service shop or stepping into a leadership role from a senior technician position.
• Bilingual (French/English) — Strong asset given the shop’s multilingual environment.
• Ability to operate yard equipment — Experience with loaders is an asset; training can be provided.
