Senior Hydrogeologist – Environmental Services

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist to join our Environmental Services team, based in Waterloo, Ontario with flexibility to work from other Ontario offices. The role focuses on physical and chemical hydrogeology projects, primarily supporting mining, permitting, water supply studies, hydrologic assessments, and dewatering studies.

Location

Waterloo, Ontario – office‑based with occasional overnight travel to field sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare proposals, develop work plans and budgets, and manage projects or project components.
• Plan, coordinate, and support field programs, including intrusive investigations.
• Develop conceptual hydrogeologic models and conduct hydrogeologic research.
• Review field information from investigations; prepare reports, including interpretation of geological and hydrogeological conditions.
• Interpret aquifer tests and characterize aquifers using maps and spatial data.
• Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams on baseline, impact assessment projects, feasibility studies, groundwater and surface water assessments, groundwater flow and transport models, and contaminant investigations.
• Prepare technical reports and client presentations summarizing project work, findings, and recommendations.
• Perform QA/QC of technical documents and deliverables.
• Promote a strong health and safety culture and actively participate in the Health, Safety, Security, and Environment Program.
• Travel as required to various field sites; overnight travel may be required.

Requirements & Credentials

• Post‑secondary education, ideally a Master of Science in Geoscience or Engineering with emphasis on hydrogeology.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in consulting or a regulatory environment, regularly using and analyzing hydrogeologic data.
• Professional registration or eligibility: P.Geo. or P.Eng.
• Valid driver’s license for business travel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and strong computer skills.
• Experience with numerical groundwater flow and transport modeling (asset).
• Knowledge of mine and environmental regulations and policies (asset).
• Knowledge of groundwater chemistry for mine‑related projects (asset).
• Strong initiative, independent decision‑making ability, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills to balance immediate and long‑term priorities.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range (Ontario): $103,300.00 – $153,300.00 annually. Compensation is based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location and may include bonus eligibility.
