Import Clerk

Hello! My name is Angela, and I am a Recruitment Consultant at Fed Supply, a specialized recruitment agency focused on supply chain, logistics, transportation, and customer service. We recruit for both temporary and permanent positions throughout the Greater Montreal Area.

The Company


Our client is a leading national retailer with an extensive distribution network. To support its international sourcing operations, the company is seeking an Import Clerk (Traffic) to join its logistics team.


The Role


Reporting to the Senior Manager, Import, you will be responsible for managing the administrative aspects of international shipments. You will ensure the accuracy of import documentation, monitor shipments, and coordinate with suppliers, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and carriers to support efficient import operations.


Key Responsibilities


Validate commercial invoices and packing lists against purchase orders and shipping arrangements;
Calculate and validate shipment weights and volumes;
Verify shipment information to ensure proper routing and transportation costs;
Validate required certificates and documentation for customs clearance and product compliance;
Coordinate with customs brokers to ensure shipping data and documents are transmitted accurately;
Liaise with vendors, carriers, freight forwarders, and transportation providers to facilitate efficient shipments;
Coordinate with the inbound logistics team to communicate expected delivery dates;
Investigate and resolve container movement issues with carriers and logistics partners;
Prepare and complete import and shipping documentation in a timely manner.

Qualifications


College diploma (DEC, AEC, or equivalent) in Transportation, Logistics, or a related field;
1 to 2 years of experience in import/export or international logistics;
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail;
Excellent problem-solving abilities;
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel;
Experience with SAP is considered an asset.
