Associate Director - Regulatory Capital, Data & Business Solutions

Job Description

In this exciting position, you’ll have the chance to work as a Product Owner delegate & SME, to develop design, solutions, and data driven requirements on all key projects, enhancements, upgrades, and changes to Capital Measurement & Reporting Platforms.

The role will primarily encompass Product Solutioning responsibilities focused on data/systems/business processes executed for generation of Capital measurement & reporting outputs (BCAR, RWA, CET1, PIII, etc). This involves understanding the business domain & the technology/data solution landscape to perform analysis, develop requirements & solutions, design new innovative ways of doing things, find data & business rules gaps to deliver metrics optimization & regulatory compliance, and execute & report to multiple cross functional stakeholders on implementation of major initiatives & projects.

Operating as the business product owner, the role must operate and traverse through various groups interacting with Capital domain including internal Capital team coordination, planning & managing IT deliverables & costs, engage upstream data providers, communicate with downstream utilizers of Capital data, and engage external vendors & service providers.

Role is specifically within the Capital measurement and reporting domain and candidate will be working with large complex data structures that require an ability to learn and operate within the business domain knowledge to successfully navigate and provide insights.

The role also requires an individual to bring a modernization lens to the broader group & department by utilizing their technical skills to bring innovative & latest ways of doing things better, delivering more, and providing paths to efficiencies. New technologies, AI/ML understanding & value, and ability to adopt new tools is a critical contribution expected from this role.

What will you do?

• Work alongside product owner(s) to manage development of, analysis, business understanding, solutioning, planning, prioritization, & implementation of key initiatives and projects related to Regulatory Capital Measurement & Reporting.
• Management & prioritization of external bank projects impacting Regulatory Capital data pipelines & infrastructure including developing strong product knowledge of RBC’s complex product portfolio on the Asset side of the balance sheet (credit products).
• Actively seek to maintain engagement with key stakeholders on all major bank projects to establish key point of contact for Regulatory Capital team and remain engaged with programs.
• Strong communication & engagement with various RBC departments and teams with objective to seek new opportunities which would benefit the business objectives of the Regulatory Capital team.
• Collaborate & design solutions with IT partners while consolidating and addressing IT feedback to deliver goals set out by business.
• Manage internal coordination of Regulatory Capital group (FRO) to ensure timely delivery of requirements, completion of UATs, and completion of all E2E business activities required under standard IT change management procedures.
• Utilize vision & foresight to guide all key stakeholders through rapidly changing & dynamic environment allowing for smooth transitioning/pivoting when required.
• Key contributor in validation of IT work efforts estimations, review of annual budget projections, vendor invoice management, and other cost management activities for Regulatory Capital applications.
• Build critical understanding of Capital domain at large banks and be a strong voice in the group to continuously drive business value.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

• 4+ years experience in related finance/accounting, data analytics, product ownership, or business analysis, in similar banking domains with specific experience in product ownership, product enhancement deliveries, business domain development and planning, and solutions architect type roles.
• STEM (CSc, Eng, Math, Data Sci) or BBA/BComm or above in finance, accounting, economics or related business field. Open to other educational backgrounds with relevant experience.
• Proficient knowledge of SQL, programming languages, AI/ML prompting & ability to understand underlying technology, and data platform modernization concepts & trends.
• Ability & confidence to engage, present, and take feedback directly from Senior Management on major initiatives & deliveries (inclusive of pitching new ideas & innovations).
• Understanding of business analytics, data mining, experimentation and measurement.
• Interest in learning and developing knowledge in finance/Capital domain in corporate banking.
• Organized & delivery oriented with ability to consolidate and summarize Capital Initiative to manage and also work as SME, business owner, at granular level to ensure E2E delivery.
