Role: Messaging Engineer (Exchange) - contract
Location: Scarborough (M1W) / Primarily Remote (onsite: 1day per month)
Duration: up until November 2026, with a high chance of extension
Hrs/week: 37.5
Rate: depends on expertise (intermediate level)
Main Deliverables
- Replicate and build Microsoft Exchange infrastructure from QA into Development environment
- Support ongoing Exchange operations and messaging infrastructure activities
- Maintain stable mail flow, routing, and enterprise email platform functionality
- Collaborate with internal messaging and security teams to support enterprise messaging systems
Technical Stack
- Microsoft Exchange Server (on-prem)
- Exchange Online (O365)
- Proofpoint (Email DLP, mail filtering)
- Cisco IronPort (email routing)
- Enterprise mail routing systems
- Messaging security & compliance technologies
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Exchange (Server and Online)
- Proven experience supporting enterprise-scale messaging environments
- Experience with mail flow management, mailbox provisioning, and Exchange administration
- Ability to troubleshoot complex messaging and delivery issues
- Familiarity with enterprise email security concepts (DLP, filtering, routing)
- Strong written communication skills for documentation and email-based coordination
- Experience with Proofpoint -Nice to Have
- Experience with Cisco IronPort or similar mail gateways -Nice to Have
- Exposure to email DLP and secure mail routing frameworks -Nice to Have
Responsibilities
- Build and configure Development messaging environment aligned with QA infrastructure
- Administer and support Exchange environments (on-prem and cloud)
- Handle day-to-day messaging tasks including mailbox creation, modifications, and issue resolution
- Troubleshoot mail flow, delivery failures, and messaging platform incidents
- Support transactional messaging requests and operational tasks
- Work closely with Messaging Engineers on infrastructure updates and enhancements
- Coordinate with security teams on email protection, filtering, and compliance initiatives
- Maintain clear documentation and provide updates on incidents, changes, and system behavior
