Job Overview

Reporting to the Manager of Interprofessional Practice and Education, the Skin and Wound Care Specialist is responsible for the provision of comprehensive, specialized care for patients requiring wound, skin, or ostomy care. The role also assists in program planning, evaluation of pressure injury prevention, and education of front‑line staff.

Primary Responsibilities

• Build capacity and deliver excellent skin and wound care within the interprofessional team model.
• Promote best practices in skin and wound care and apply relevant information to make effective judgments and decisions.
• Lead professional practice and promote excellence in care for persons with skin, wound, and ostomy needs.
• Facilitate the identification and development of staff learning needs through coaching, leadership, and adult education concepts.
• Research, design, implement, and evaluate programs of evidence‑based practice.
• Provide clinical consultation to staff, patients, and family members.
• Support innovative development and implementation of patient‑centered approaches to pressure injury management.
• Travel to Uxbridge and the Reactivation Care Centre locations as required.

What You Bring to the Role

• Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Master’s Degree in Nursing or currently working toward it.
• Five years of RN experience or an equivalent combination of postgraduate training specific to wound care treatment and management.
• Wounds Canada membership (asset).
• Completion of coursework relevant to wound care expertise, such as credentials for Enterostomal Therapist or International Interdisciplinary Wound Care Course.
• Advanced clinical knowledge and implementation of evidence‑based practice.
• Strong desire and capacity to promote professional practice and excellence in evidence‑based, patient‑centered care.
• Superior interpersonal, coaching, and leadership skills.
• Excellent decision‑making, problem recognition, and problem‑solving skills.
• Commitment to continuing professional development.
• Excellent computer literacy, including knowledge of Excel.
• Excellent documentation skills and data collection capabilities.
• Demonstrated attendance and performance records, with the ability to maintain these standards.
• Commitment to a healthy and safe workplace in compliance with organizational policies, health and safety legislation, and best practices, and completion of relevant mandatory education.

Schedule & Compensation

• Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30AM – 4:30PM (schedules may change due to operational needs).
• Compensation: G‑WCC range of $51.99 to $63.83 per hour.
