The ideal candidate will be eager to contribute to the big picture of the company and will be motivated to learn, grow and engage with staff, partners and advisors. The candidate will be comfortable taking ownership of their role and will balance the needs of fine details of accounting with strategic thinking of the financial health of advisors and the dealer. The candidate will understand the importance of deadlines and will work towards gaining a significant understanding of accounting from both a traditional accounting perspective, an advisor perspective, and regulatory perspective.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a manager you will be responsible for ensuring the financial reporting and performance of the finance team is accurate and meeting all deadlines. It will also be critical that you are aware of how your specific role, and the department, interfaces and impacts other people or functions.

• Connect directly with the Controller and CFO for reporting deadlines, and financial management
• Manage month end review cycle by assessing the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, etc.
• Preparation of audit support and tax filings
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fee structure models to administer account fees
• Monitoring of firm Assets Under Management, insurance bonds, and other regulatory thresholds
• Assess and report on budgeted targets versus monthly actuals
• Provide analysis on profitability, costs centres, and monitor firm capital
• Complete regulatory reporting and ad-hoc internal finance reports
• Support automation and AI-driven process improvements within the finance function
• Assist in reconciliation of fees and commissions while coordinating with other departments as required
• Manage and mentor a team of finance associates
• Provide ongoing mentorship and coaching to finance staff
• Set priorities, ensure accountability, and drive execution

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Regardless of experience, we provide specific training and ongoing development to all employees to ensure that knowledge and experience is applied consistently throughout the organization.

• CPA designation required
• Completion of securities and investment industry courses an asset
• 4 to 5 years of accounting experience
• 1 to 2 years of management experience
• Investment Industry experience an asset
• Critical thinker and skillful decision maker, adaptable in a changing regulatory environment
• Excellent organizational skills, able to prioritize important and time-sensitive tasks,
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced dynamic environment with a sharp eye for detail

COMPENSATION & POSITION DETAILS

• Annual salary range $110,000 - $130,000
• This is a newly created role that is currently vacant
