The Mactaquac Generating Station began generating electricity in 1968. Since the 1980s, concrete portions of the hydro station have been affected by a chemical reaction called alkali-aggregate reaction. The reaction causes the concrete to swell and crack and has required substantial annual maintenance and repairs. NB Power is proposing a project to ensure the station can operate to its intended 100-year lifespan with a modified approach to maintenance and adjusting and replacing equipment and concrete overtime.

Reporting to the Senior Construction Manager, the Construction Manager (Electrical) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all electrical construction activities related to the Electrical Balance of Plant (BoP) and equipment scope for the Mactaquac Life Achievement Project (MLAP). This role ensures work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements, schedule, budget, and quality standards. The Construction Manager (Electrical) works closely with contractors, the Engineer of Record (EOR), operations, and internal stakeholders to support design, manage construction execution, and resolve complex on-site issues within an operating hydroelectric generating station.

Key functions include

• Lead and coordinate electrical construction activities, including installation, integration, and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
• Manage contractors and collaborate with engineering, operations, and project teams to ensure effective execution and integration of electrical work across the site.
• Monitor daily construction progress, troubleshoot technical and interface issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain project performance.
• Participate in constructability reviews, review issued-for-construction drawings, and support change management processes related to electrical scope.
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes, regulatory requirements, environmental standards, and WorkSafe NB safety requirements.

Our ideal teammate will have

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
• Seven years of construction management experience in hydro generation, industrial, or large infrastructure projects
• Three years of experience in a supervisory role managing multi-functional teams
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, installation practices, contract management, and project delivery in brownfield and/or greenfield environments
• Demonstrated ability to manage contractors, resolve complex technical and site issues, and work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Registered Professional Engineer licensed in New Brunswick or eligible for immediate transfer considered as an asset

An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
