Yellowknife Education District No. 1 (YK1) invites applications for the following full-time term position at District Office:

Financial Coordinator/ Finance Officer

Term from December 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022

This position will be responsible for managing, administering, and analyzing financial operations and systems. This includes preparing and analyzing budget and actual variance reports, preparing financial statements, budget statements and variance analysis. This position will provide financial and administration information and advice to schools, perform year-end financial requirements and manage financial administrative functions, oversee contracts and contribution agreements, and maintain computerized accounting systems.

This position is required to work a minimum of 7.5 hours per day.

The ideal candidate will possess the following education and qualifications:

• a Degree in Business Administration preferable with a major in Accounting and enrolment in a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)program, or a CPA
• a minimum of three years’ experience processing a full cycle of payroll/financial accounting and year-end audits
• demonstrated ability to communicate effectively written and orally

The salary range for this position will be based upon the skillset of the successful candidate, and whether they qualify for the position of finance officer ($80,000 to $100,000 salary range) or financial coordinator ($93,000 to $112,000 salary range). This position also includes a comprehensive benefits package.
