Job Responsibility: Your Opportunity: This Special Project Lead position supports the planning and implementation of Emergency & Disaster Management (E/DM) initiatives that improve safety, efficiency, and operational resilience across Alberta's healthcare system. The Special Projects Lead is responsible for managing projects related to emergency preparedness, risk mitigation, response coordination, and business continuity. The role includes end-to-end project leadership, strategic planning, change management, and outcome evaluation. Working closely with internal teams, external agencies, and other partners, the Lead fosters collaboration, builds consensus, and navigates barriers to success. Strong communication skills are essential to consult, negotiate, and align expectations across all organizational levels. Description: Key Responsibilities: Lead cross-functional projects from initiation to implementation or operational handoff. Coordinate diverse teams, delegate tasks, and optimize workflows. Facilitate meetings, document decisions, and clarify requirements. Mentor project staff and monitor schedules, risks, and deliverables. Track performance, analyze data, and report to executives and stakeholders/partners. Identify system gaps and provide actionable recommendations. Evaluate risks and offer mitigation strategies to project stakeholders/partners. Support integration of business and technical processes. Conduct post-project reviews and drive continuous improvement. Represent E/DM in strategic working groups and advisory committees. Support Emergency Operations Centres during incidents or activations. Expected Outcomes: Projects are effectively implemented at local and provincial levels. Operational risks to staff, patients, and the organization are reduced. E/DM is recognized as a system leader in emergency and continuity planning. Legislative and accreditation standards are consistently met.

Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Emergency Management, a clinical discipline (e.g., Nursing, Allied Health), Public or Health Administration, Social Sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum five years of recent, progressive experience in a complex healthcare environment, including leading large-scale projects and facilitating engagement with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated expertise in project management, change management, and/or business analysis, supported by relevant education, training, or practical experience. Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) 200, with practical understanding of emergency response structures and coordination. Additional Required Qualifications: As Required. Preferred Qualifications: Formal certification in project management (e.g., CAPM, APM, PPM, or PMP) indicating adherence to recognized professional standards. Certification in change management (e.g., Prosci Certified Change Practitioner or equivalent), with proven ability to lead organizational transitions. Completion of ICS 300, with working knowledge of broader emergency response coordination at a multi-agency level.
