About the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Drug and Pharmacy Services, eHealth Saskatchewan is seeking a Senior Application Support Analyst with strong application support, programming, and problem-solving skills. This role requires expertise in Java development, scripting, reporting, technical documentation, and application architecture to support and enhance custom pharmacy solutions and mission-critical healthcare applications.

As a senior team member, you will develop and implement application enhancements, automate processes, troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and support application integrations. You will also monitor production environments, assess the impact of upgrades and releases, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to ensure system reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, collaborate closely with stakeholders, developers, and support teams, and deliver high-quality, patient-focused technology solutions that support healthcare delivery across Saskatchewan.

What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Manager, Drug & Pharmacy Services , you will:

• Analyze and modernize legacy applications, translating business requirements into scalable, supportable solutions using Java (J2EE) and related technologies.

• Design, develop, maintain, and support mission-critical healthcare applications, reports, integrations, and automation solutions.

• Develop, test, deploy, and troubleshoot application code while following best practices for code reviews, documentation, version control, and change management.

• Gather and analyze business and technical requirements, recommending improvements to applications, processes, and system performance.

• Lead root cause analysis, resolve complex application issues, and implement solutions to improve reliability, scalability, and user experience.

• Design and support APIs, interfaces, and data integrations to enable interoperability across enterprise systems.

• Assess the impact of upgrades, releases, and patches, ensuring application stability and minimal disruption to business operations.

• Ensure compliance with eHealth Saskatchewan architecture standards, security requirements, and development best practices.

• Recommend optimal technical approaches and provide technical leadership, mentorship, and knowledge sharing within the team.

• Create and maintain technical and operational documentation to support application lifecycle management and ongoing support.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

• Completion of a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

• Minimum 5 years of experience as an Application Support Analyst or a similar role within an integrated support environment.

• Strong background in Java enterprise application development, including use of technologies such as Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, RESTful APIs, web services, and enterprise integration frameworks.

• Expertise in software architecture and engineering, including object-oriented design, design patterns, secure coding, performance optimization, and distributed/service-oriented architectures.

• Proven experience with database design and development, encompassing SQL, data modeling, query optimization, performance tuning, and data-driven reporting and analytics solutions.

• Comprehensive knowledge of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution design, code reviews, Git-based source control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, DevOps, and release management.

• Prior experience supporting enterprise-scale production environments, including deployments, upgrades, incident management, root cause analysis, system monitoring, automation scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python), and technical documentation.

• Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, including mentoring team members and fostering effective collaboration with stakeholders, vendors, developers, and cross-functional teams.

• Experience within healthcare environments, including pharmacy, clinical, or medication management systems, and/or familiarity with interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, or related healthcare integration technologies would be considered an asset.
