This role is responsible for deepening relationships with not-for-profit members and prospective members attached to emerging brands, supporting their banking needs, as well as providing guidance in areas such as volunteerism, governance, and sponsorship, and increasing proactive revenue-generating activity across these communities. The role is to become the ambassador to support FirstOntario as the credit union for community banking. RoleSales and ServiceDevelop, and manage a portfolio of personal, business, and NFP member relationships by identifying needs early, deepening engagement, and increasing share of wallet across deposits, lending, wealth, and payments to achieve assigned sales targetsDrive membership growth through proactive outreach, across all our communities, disciplined follow-up, strong onboarding conversion, and consistent opportunity management. Lead advice-based conversations that uncover immediate and future financial needs, positioning suitable solutions that support member goals while contributing to new account openings, deposit, lending, and non-margin income growthIdentify more complex credit and wealth opportunities and coordinate high-quality referrals to internal partners, including Wealth and Business Banking, with clear context and follow-throughApply strong knowledge of personal and business banking products to expand product penetration, improve solutioning, and support members with required financial banking needs, volunteerism, governance and sponsorship. Build long-term relationships through regular proactive contact, structured follow-up, and clear relationship ownership that improves retention, reduces handoffs, and creates a consistent member experienceWorking with the Community Impact team, this role will work closely with the Director or Community Impact to facilitate volunteerism, Financial literacy support, sponsorship, and relationship building. Support growth initiatives tied to NFP and emerging brands service model by balancing advice, acquisition, relationship deepening, and specialized member engagement within that sector. Strategic Growth & Portfolio ManagementHelp set and manage sales-target gap plans - regularly identify gaps between actual performance and assigned sales/growth targets across the NFP and emerging-brands portfolio, and build and track actionable plans to close them.Evaluate and adjust campaign/program performance - analyze the results of community and emerging-brands campaigns and programs on an ongoing basis, and recommend or make adjustments to improve market share, member acquisition, and retention.Identify portfolio/product gaps and recommend solutions - proactively flag product or service gaps for NFP and emerging-brand members and bring forward recommendations to enhance FirstOntario's offering for this sector.Build outreach strategies with the branch network - develop and implement strategies that engage the branch network and local communities to raise awareness of the NFP/emerging-brands program and generate new business opportunities.Track and report measurable business-development outcomes - maintain consistent financial reporting and performance metrics that demonstrate engagement and contribution (e.g., deposit growth, new relationships, pipeline activity), and use this reporting to inform strategy.When required represent FirstOntario at industry trade shows - participate in industry trade shows - including evening and weekend events - to network, build relationships, and attract new NFP and emerging-brands business.Financial Guidance & Credit SupportProvide advice-led guidance aligned to members' needs and goals by identifying suitable products and services that support growth, deepen relationships, and increase product penetrationSupport personal credit requests, including loans, lines of credit, and mortgage solutions, while proactively identifying opportunities to advance lending conversations and improve conversion outcomesUnderstand the importance of wealth management as required for this sector Support any RFP work that is required by this sector. Recognize and assess more complex deposit and lending scenarios involving NFP challenges identifying needs earlier and escalating or referring with strong supporting contextIdentify any business banking and commercial opportunities early and advance them through strong internal referrals that support broader relationship capture and revenue growth, working with the Community Impact Group Banking representative to facilitate onboarding and consistent follow up. Recognize when more complex planning or investment needs should be referred to a senior advisor or specialist, ensuring timely follow-up and stronger referral outcomes that support funds under management growth Community Commitment Represent FirstOntario Credit Union in a number of key industry associations, as well as remain an active member of local service organizations in the communities we serve.Actively participate in community groups and events to raise FirstOntario's visibility within the not-for-profit sector and grow your network.Adhere to all regulatory, risk, and compliance standards, but help contribute to the level of governance excellence that FirstOntario regularly displays.Leverage and support our administrative roles to ensure a seamless member experience.Be a leader in our division and credit union by showing a consistent level of teamwork, respect, and hard work.RequirementsUniversity degree in business, finance, or a related field Minimum of three (3) years of experience in financial services including relationship management, credit, sales, and member service or relevant industry experienceSeven to ten (7-10) years of experience working within the not-for-profit sector. Stay abreast of all credit and investment product and services and stay current on our processes Strong communication and relationship-building skillsAbility and commitment to meet assigned sales, growth, and ancillary targets by proactively identifying member needs, deepening relationships, and delivering appropriate solutions through direct service and internal referralsStrong problem‑solving skills and ability to take initiative to independently research and source accurate information related to internal policies, products and processesStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage day‑to‑day workflows and prioritiesStrong attention to detail in maintaining accurate documentation, and follow up on tasks to support timely completion of requests and commitmentsCuriosity, adaptability, and willingness to learn Be aware of and mitigate enterprise risk factors and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, legislation and FirstOntario policies and proceduresWillingness and ability to travel as required and work flexible or irregular hours to support member service, events, and branch operationsPerform other duties as required. This role is hybrid in Hamilton, ON.This posting is for an existing vacancy.Salary Range: $108,961 to $149,450 annually.Compensation for this role reflects a combination of skills, experience, and internal equity. Those whose experience more closely aligns the role's requirements may be placed higher within the salary range.
