The Ministry of Government Relations is dedicated to supporting Saskatchewan municipalities and First Nation, Métis and Northern communities with the aim to improve quality of life for all citizens. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Director of Finance and Strategy to lead our ministry's financial operations and contribute to our team's success. The ideal candidate is an organized and analytical thinker with a passion for financial management and organizational excellence.

Responsibilities:

• Financial Management : Oversee the financial activities of the ministry, including forecasting, appropriation control, financial statement reporting and the compliance of all financial transactions with established accounting standards and government's financial policies. Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
• Budget Development : Oversee the preparation, review and execution of the ministry's annual budget. Ensure alignment with strategic priorities, monitor spending and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Strategy Development : Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement strategic plans that align with the ministry's goals and objectives. Analyze trends, financial data and policy changes to inform decision-making.
• Accommodations and Procurement : Lead efforts related to accommodations, facilities management and procurement. Optimize resource allocation and ensure efficient operations.
• Team Collaboration : Foster a positive and productive team environment. Mentor and guide staff, promote professional development and encourage cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications:

• Education : Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, administration or a related field. CPA designation preferred.
• Experience : Minimum of 5 years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably within the public sector.
• Skills :
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities;
• Strong financial acumen;
• Excellent written and verbal communication and people skills;
• Knowledge of government policies and regulations; and,
• Proficiency in Microsoft products, financial software, and tools.
