Do you have a passion for precision, organization, and financial stewardship? The Squamish Nation's Finance Department is looking for an Accounts Payable Technician to ensure the integrity and accuracy of our daily financial operations. In this key role, you will process payments, maintain essential financial files, and contribute to the smooth and efficient functioning of our accounts payable processes, helping us continue serving our community with excellence.
What You'll Do
- Process payments by entering cheque requisitions and accounts payable invoices daily.
- Verify payment requisitions for accuracy, approvals, and correct general ledger coding.
- Manage electronic Expense Data Capture (EDC) imports and assist with Procure-to-Pay (P2P) matching and training.
- Process a variety of scheduled payments, including distributions, educational support payments, caregiver stipends, language grants, and sports grants.
- Prepare and submit accurate employee expense claims for payment.
- Maintain organized, up-to-date accounts payable filing systems, ensuring easy retrieval and information security.
- Support payment runs by preparing payment files for approval and reviewing outputs for accuracy.
- Respond promptly to stakeholder inquiries via email and phone regarding payment status or documentation.
- Identify, report, and help resolve invoice discrepancies and irregularities.
What We're Looking For
- A combination of education and experience or equivalent education in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Previous experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, or financial operations preferred.
- Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience working with financial systems and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Outlook).
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Strong professional communication skills with a collaborative, team-first attitude.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information ethically.
- Familiarity with Squamish Nation's culture, values, and community practices is an asset.

Salary: $47,000 - $66,000
Candidates are typically offered compensation between the beginning to the midpoint of the range. We are committed to providing a fair and equitable package that reflects the value an individual brings to the organization.
