Position Overview: The Laboratory Assistant- 6 motnhs contract must have the ability read, understand and follow technical procedures. They must be able to perform work to established Standard Operating Procedures and Process Control Records. They must and be familiar with all aspects of cleanroom and equipment disinfecting. They must have excellent record keeping skills as well as the ability to follow a variety of procedures closely.

Location: 

On-site in Kanata, Ontario

Required Qualifications:

Normally, candidates must have a minimum High School education with some post-secondary training or 2 years relevant work experience in chemistry, physics or biology.

Physical requirements:

• Have good manual dexterity and grip strength
• Must be able to use hands/arms on a constant basis
• Work at and above shoulder height
• Push and pull carts with a force of up to 25kgs on an occasional basis
• Lift up to 10kgs on an occasional basis
• Wear a respirator for extended periods of time
• In accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices, the candidate must:
  • be free of a communicable disease
  • not have a sloughing skin condition (i.e. severe dandruff, eczema, psoriasis)

• Must be able to use aseptic technique and don a clean room suit (over a plant uniform)
• Must be able to remain in a clean room for potentially up to 3 hours at a time.

The pay range for this position in Ontario (CA-ON) is expected to be between $54,705 and $68,543 per year. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment and are subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
