Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Grande Prairie office is actively hiring a Safety Advisor to join the safety department in support of the Operations Division’s Liquids Transportation and Fractionation team. Reporting to the Safety Supervisor, this position plays a key role in promoting a strong safety culture and supporting safe, reliable operations.

Promoting Pembina’s Safety Culture – Zero by Choice, the Safety Service Unit is dedicated to delivering quality products and services by leading the enterprise-wide occupational health and safety, process safety, physical security, and emergency management programs, insurance program and Operations Management System governance. The Safety team ensures compliance with all company, federal and local government health, safety, security and emergency management regulations and requirements ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our employees, contractors, and communities.

This position works collaboratively with the team to implement and manage proactive prevention initiatives that strengthen safety performance and support compliance with regulatory, industry, and corporate standards.

The successful candidate must live within 50 km of Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Responsibilities:

• Champion Pembina’s Zero by Choice safety culture and Life Saving Rules by embedding physical, psychological, and cyber safety into all work practices while taking personal accountability to maintain compliance, support audit readiness, proactively identify risks, and protect our people, assets, and data;
• Champion safe, cost-effective loss prevention and risk management practices across pipeline operations and maintenance while ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements;
• Collaborate with operations teams to promote a strong safety culture through safety meetings, key safety topic presentations, and follow-up on action items;
• Participate in and review hazard assessments for high-risk activities and projects, providing field-based safety support to ensure appropriate controls are in place;
• Assist with the development, review, and maintenance of safety documentation, and conduct field reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements;
• Perform or participate in various internal and/or external audits and reviews, including, but not limited to, ground disturbance, energy isolation, safety culture, etc;
• Support incident investigations, corrective actions, and the communication of safety learnings to prevent recurrence and promote continuous improvement;
• Assist in developing, reviewing, and maintaining procedures and task analyses to ensure operational, maintenance, and construction activities comply with regulatory and company requirements;
• Collaborate with project managers to develop and execute project safety inspection programs and requirements;
• Serve as the field safety liaison and coordinate with third-party inspectors, project teams, and stakeholders to support safety oversight and field activities; and
• Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 + years of industry experience in safety related discipline within pipeline maintenance or operations;
• Certificate or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, considered a strong asset;
• Working towards or completion of either the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) designation;
• Strong knowledge of applicable industry safety requirements, standards, policies, and procedures including those of OH&S (BC and Alberta), AER, CER, OGC and CSA;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and collaborate with field and project teams;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to quickly learn and effectively utilize business systems and software;
• Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively deliver safety information to operational and project stakeholders;
• Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license; and
• Overnight travel may be required to support other work or coverage needs within adjacent districts in Alberta and BC.

Pembina’s Flexible Work Standard provides the option for eligible employees to work remotely on Fridays

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. The final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
