Position

Office Administrator

The Office Administrator, who is an integral part of the ministerial team, coordinates all procedures and operations of Spring Park United Church. This individual is most likely the point of “first contact” with the ministry of Spring Park United Church. It is expected that in all encounters with staff, volunteers, the congregation, tenants, affiliated groups and visitors, they create a welcoming, compassionate, and positive impression of Spring Park United Church.

The individual must be comfortable working in a faith-based organization and accepting of the United Church’s position on social issues.

The duties of the Office Administrator are categorized as Administration (65-70%: providing administrative support to Ministry Personnel, Church Treasurer, and various Church Committees; maintain Church records and compile information; assist with maintenance of Church office and premises) and Public Relations (35-30%: provide friendly reception; respond to/direct requests/concerns; assist volunteers; liaison between community groups using/renting Church property and Church Board, support internet and social media presence).

Education

High School graduation or GED supplemented with a diploma in office studies from a recognized post-secondary institution (or equivalent experience) with a minimum of three years recent and relevant experience in an office setting is required.

Experience/Skills

· Experience performing office and administrative duties with strong organizational, decision making and problem-solving skills.

· Effective computer skills using the Google suite of office products, including creating reports, slide presentations, spreadsheets, web pages and ability to learn/use other software packages.

· Capability to work under pressure and be compassionate in emotional situations.

· Demonstrated ability to work independently.

· Exhibit good judgement in dealings with Church tenants.

· Able to maintain confidentiality when working with personal data and other sensitive information.

· Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral); ability to collaborate effectively within a ministry team, with church groups and individuals.

· Understanding of basic accounting principles (i.e. debits and credits, bank reconciliations, writing cheques and preparing bank deposits)..

· Experience dealing with the public is an asset.

· Applicant must demonstrate a strong attendance record and a solid work history.  

Other

· A satisfactory Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector) must be provided prior to beginning employment.

· Testing of certain clerical skills may be required.

Full Time

35 hours/week, reduced to 27.5 hr/wk during July and August at full pay

Salary

$38,220 annual (calculated at $21.00 per hour)

Start Date

June 29, 2026 or as agreed upon
