Solution Designer

The Solution Designer is responsible for interpreting business requirements and establishing the technical direction required to deliver effective and scalable solutions. This role ensures that all designs align with enterprise architecture principles across Business, Application, Information, Technology, and Security domains.The Solution Designer will work closely with Project Managers, Business Analysts, and technical teams to deliver solutions that meet both business and technical objectives while supporting strategic outcomes.ResponsibilitiesInterpret business and technical requirements and translate them into solution designs that enable business goalsProvide high-level and detailed solution design direction and recommendations to project teamsEnsure alignment with enterprise architecture principles across Business, Application, Information, Technology, and SecurityLead the design, specification, and selection of information system solutions, considering:FunctionalityData and integrationSecurityInfrastructureScalability and performanceCollaborate with Project Managers and Business Analysts to develop project schedules, tasks, and resource plansContribute to business case development, including cost estimates for infrastructure, licensing, development, and ongoing supportReview delivered solutions to ensure they are built to specification and aligned with design standardsLead the organization in leveraging emerging technologies and industry best practicesQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline5–7 years of experience in a similar Solution Designer / Architect role10+ years of overall experience in a professional IT environmentProven experience providing technical direction to project teams and junior resourcesStrong experience developing solution design documentationSolid understanding of solution design in environments leveraging Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and enterprise systemsExperience working across multiple domains including integration, data, infrastructure, and application environmentsFounded in 1882, J.D.
