Job Responsibility:
Comox Valley Animal Hospital has an opening for a full time veterinary assistant .
:
- Assist veterinarians and RVTs during examinations and procedures
- Assist RVTs before, during and after surgery
- Provide safe, low-stress animal handling and restraint
- Monitor and care for hospitalized and surgery patients, including feeding and walking
- Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms, treatment areas, surgery and kennels
- Support client communication, including admissions and discharges
- Clean and sterilize surgical instruments
- Help ensure a clean safe, and organized clinical environment
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a veterinary or animal care setting not required but recommended
- Grade 12 equivalent
- Animal Care Aid certificate not required but recommended
- Comfortable handling both dogs and cats
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Dependable, punctual, and professional
