About Us
We are a Toronto-based civil contractor specializing in sewer installation and repair, watermain work, and concrete/drain construction. We work on municipal, commercial, and residential projects throughout the Greater Toronto Area, and we're looking for an organized, detail-oriented Project Coordinator/Junior Estimator to join our growing team.
About the Role
This is a office/field role for someone looking to build a career in civil construction project management and estimating. You'll support our project managers and estimators with day-to-day coordination while learning how to price and bid civil/underground work. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who wants hands-on exposure to both the operational and pre-construction sides of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Coordination
- Assist Project Managers with scheduling, tracking, and documentation for active sewer, watermain, and concrete jobs
- Prepare and maintain project files, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and daily reports
- Coordinate with subtrades, suppliers, and municipal inspectors to keep projects on schedule
- Track material orders, deliveries, and equipment needs on active sites
- Assist with permits, utility locates, and municipal approvals
- Maintain accurate project documentation and close-out packages
Junior Estimating
- Assist senior estimators in preparing quantity takeoffs from drawings and specs
- Help compile bid packages, pricing sheets, and proposal documents
- Request and organize subcontractor and supplier quotes
- Support preparation of tender submissions for municipal and private bids
- Maintain and update pricing/cost databases for materials, labour, and equipment
- Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings as needed
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in construction coordination, estimating, or a related field (civil/underground utility experience is a strong asset)
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
- Familiarity with sewer, watermain, and concrete construction methods is an asset
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable reading civil/site drawings and specifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience with estimating or project management software is a plus (e.g., Bluebeam, HCSS, Procore)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Valid G driver's license and ability to travel to job sites within the GTA
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
