What is the Opportunity?

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Sr. Accountant will be responsible for the financial and administration including reporting, budgeting, forecasting and day-to-day transactions to ensure that the financial objectives are met and accounting procedures are carried out.

What You'll Do Here:

• Oversight of finance activities within a business unit or functional area, this could include financial reporting, budgeting, taxation.
• Consolidation of joint arrangements for financial statement preparation.
• Work effectively with, influence and support projects teams, joint arrangements & JV Partners.
• Ensure SAP transactions are recorded accurately and on a timely basis, with appropriate backup and documentation.
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations, coordinating with Aecon business units and Shared Services to remedy variances.
• Assist with the month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries, elimination entries, recurring entries and accruals.
• Implement & manage internal control procedures.
• Coordinate & manage internal and external audits.
• Develop annual budgets and quarterly forecasts in concert with the respective business partners.
• Investigate / analyze departmental variances from budgets/forecast on a monthly/quarterly basis – working closely with business partners.
• Involved in supporting accounting research to provide recommendations, ensuring the Company complies with all areas of IFRS and in accordance with established Aecon policies and procedures.
• Enhance the applicable finance processes and support process improvement initiatives to achieve financial goals and improve efficiency and profitability.
• Build a strong network across various teams to handle a wide range of analytical and operational issues.
• Support preparation of financial presentations & analyses for the leadership team.
• Support preparation of ad-hoc financial analysis (including “what-if” scenario analysis) as required to support business partners.

What You Bring to the Team:

• 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably in infrastructure, construction, energy, concessions industries.
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting. CPA designation required.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• SAP experience is an asset.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and percentage of completion accounting.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and oral).
• Cross-border experience is an asset
• Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment within a small team.

The expected salary range for this role is $80,000-$95,000 per year

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may includecertifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
