Civil Engineer Senior Advisor Location:

Markham, Canada (possible relocation to downtown Toronto)

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the design and calculations of nuclear-related structures and buildings subject to internal and external hazards.

Anticipate problems and project needs related to civil engineering.

Provide technical oversight of reinforcement detailers and review detailing models and drawings.

Direct teams completing the design of reinforced concrete structures.

Perform structural analyses using FEM code.

Participate actively in dynamic analysis of nuclear structures and components for hazards such as earthquake, gas explosion, tornado, plane crash, and high wave impact.

Write technical specifications (design requirements) and review technical documents issued by contractors.

Lead, mentor, coach, and train less experienced staff.

Check calculation notes of less experienced engineers according to the QA policy.

Conduct technical meetings with peers, partners, clients, or suppliers.

Maintain effective working relationships with the European and Canada teams to ensure efficient execution of activities.

Work in accordance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and client requirements.

Develop a full understanding of and align with company governance, standard working practices, strategies, and objectives.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver competitive and compliant proposals.

What You’ll Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience as a civil engineer in an engineering consultancy (EPC) environment.

Licensed and in good standing as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.

Experience working in a highly regulated industry based in Canada.

Fluent in English; knowledge of other languages, especially French, is welcome.

Engineering knowledge in civil projects associated with industrial or power facilities, including geotechnical analysis, design, finite element method, and reinforced concrete calculation and design.

Self‑driven, able to manage multiple responsibilities in a multi‑disciplinary and multicultural team.

Demonstrated ability in planning and conducting civil studies, performing engineering designs and evaluations for power generating or industrial facilities.

Knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, industry practices, software, and modelling tools related to engineering, construction, and nuclear or hydro facility design.

Knowledge of nuclear or hydro domain and safety.

Independent problem‑solving ability with the necessary methods and tools for civil engineering applications.

Excellent document preparation skills and ability to review and produce quality deliverables.

Ability to support the development of engineering teams.

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

Additional Details

Role eligible for a hybrid work policy.

Must be available to travel occasionally to other company locations, client sites, and industry events.

Must be flexible in daily schedule.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Must comply with all ethics and safety policies.

Consists of approximately 20% outdoor work; employee may be exposed to weather conditions.

Ability to meet highest attendance requirements.

Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with high accuracy.

Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.

May involve some lifting.

Compensation Salary Range:

$145,200 – $222,525 CAD annually.

In addition to base pay, eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan.
