Construction Coordinator

Location: On-site - Nipigon, Ontario

Reports to: Project Management

Position Summary

Working closely with site supervisors, project managers, estimators, and the safety department, the Construction Coordinator will oversee project administration, documentation, scheduling, and cost tracking while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background, advanced education in construction or engineering, and proven experience in coordinating multiple stakeholders in fast-paced project environments. This role requires a balance of administrative and field presence, with an emphasis on project controls, documentation accuracy, and proactive problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities
Site & Project Management

· Support the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, and delivering projects on time and on budget.

· Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients to ensure smooth project execution.

· Track and monitor project schedules, milestones, and deliverables, reporting progress to senior management.

· Perform quantity take-offs and assist with cost forecasting, budgeting, and change order management.

· Interpret and review drawings, specifications, and contracts to ensure compliance with project requirements.

· Conduct field reviews and inspections to monitor progress, quality, and adherence to safety and regulatory requirements.

 

Administration & Documentation

• Manage and maintain project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change events, meeting minutes, daily logs, and progress reports.
• Assist in reviewing and processing change orders and proposals.
• Prepare technical reports and written recommendations; generate forms and notifications required for project milestones.
• Assist with quantity take-offs and contract administration.

 

Safety & Compliance

· Actively promote and enforce health, safety, and environmental compliance in coordination with the Safety Department.

· Support incident investigations and corrective actions.

· Ensure labour relations, union agreements, and workplace legislation are consistently followed.

 

Technology & Tools

• Procore : Support document control (RFIs, submittals, change events, bid postings, subcontractor lists, addenda updates) as directed by the project manager.
• Use Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Project, for day-to-day coordination, scheduling, and reporting.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
• 3–5 years of progressive experience in construction coordination, project controls, or project management within the ICI (institutional, commercial, industrial) or civil construction sector.
• Advanced understanding of construction trades, building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, codes, and permits.
• Strong working knowledge of construction contracts (including CCDC) and project delivery methods.
• Effective in construction safety and productivity practices.
• Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel to project sites as required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project); experience with Procore and AutoCAD preferred.
• First Aid certification is an asset.
