We are looking for temporary staff who reside in the Yukon or BC or AB, to assist with field activities in Central Yukon until the end of the exploration season. If mineral exploration interests you, and you enjoy being physically active while working in a respectful & fun environment, then we would like to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Perform drill core-cutting duties. This includes, but is not limited to: cutting drill core using an electric core cutting saw equipped with an abrasive diamond blade; accurately sampling, labelling and organizing samples; preparing samples for shipping; labelling, moving and organizing drill core boxes and rock chip sample bags.
- Perform geotech-ing duties on incoming drill core. Geotech-ing is performed under the supervision of an experienced geologist, and includes, but is not limited to: operating a mag susceptibility meter; recording qualitative observations; performing accurate measurements; identifying important minerals; and, entering acquired data using Microsoft Excel.
- Assist in the field. This includes, but is not limited to: soil sampling; carrying and organizing soil and rock specimen; digging pits and small hand-trenches; recording accurate GPS reading and other observations; helping to identify important minerals.
- Assist with camp maintenance.
Requirements
- Practice safety at every turn. Embody safety leadership and a professional approach towards all fellow employees, supervisors, contractors and visitors. Notify supervisors when unsafe situations or practices are observed.
- Help maintain a "dry" worksite. Usage of alcohol or drugs is not tolerated at work. Presenting oneself intoxicated, or under the influence of either drug or alcohol, will result in immediate dismissal.
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment, as demonstrated, required and provided by employer.
- Be conscientious and hard-working; interested in learning mineral exploration skills; be physically fit and able to lift 25kg.
- A valid Driver’s License.
- Possess a healthy and positive attitude.
Compensation
- Competitive with the rest of the mineral exploration industry, and dependent on experience.
