Sessional Lecturer - PHS440H1F Heatlh & Pharmaceuticals (0.25 FCE - co-taught)

A critical examination of drug development, including the role of health professionals and the pharmaceutical industry in researching, testing, marketing, licensing, and evaluating pharmaceutical drugs. Topics include the differing needs for drug development, evaluation and dispensing in lower income countries, and potential conflicts of interest in drug development.

Minimum Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess a sound knowledge of the relevant subject matter and the ability to impart that knowledge to students, alongside a strong interest in the development, marketing, and promotion of drugs, medical ethics, and research practices and integrity. They will bring a proven track record of engaging with healthcare policy or legislative reform, as well as deep expertise in pharmaceutical safety, drug approval mechanisms, and risk management. Prior university-level teaching experience instructing on health systems and related regulatory frameworks is strongly preferred. Furthermore, applicants should demonstrate superior teaching expertise at the undergraduate level, with a documented history of presenting lectures, explaining concepts clearly, and effectively administering courses through learning management systems

Preferred Qualification: Minimum 10 years’ experience in the area of drug safety and advocacy.  Demonstrated teaching, research and practical or professional expertise on issues relating to health and pharmaceuticals is preferred. Demonstrated evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching is preferred.

Relevant Criterion: Past teaching experience is the more relevant criterion than the need to acquire experience in respect of this posted position.

Description of Duties: Normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours. Supervision of teaching assistant.
