Operations and Camp Coordinator

Engineering For Kids Victoria is a dynamic STEM education organization offering camps, after-school programs, and workshops for children. We bring hands-on learning experiences to local recreation centres, inspiring the next generation of engineers, scientists, and innovators.

Who You Are

Do you get a little thrill from creating detailed project plans and checking tasks off your to-do list? Do you love the puzzle of scheduling staff and finding the perfect fit? Are you the kind of person who keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes—anticipating needs before they arise?

We're seeking a highly-organized and proactive self-starter with experience leading summer camps or similar programs. During our busiest season (April-August), you will take charge of running multiple summer camps, overseeing instructors, ensuring smooth program execution, and managing on-the-ground, day-to-day logistics. Outside of the summer season, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of our after-school and evening programs.

Location : Victoria, BC.

• Primarily work from home with in-person responsibilities.

Job Type : Part-time

• 15-20 hours per week, with additional hours during peak season, April to August. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Scheduling & Staff Coordination - Build and maintain staff schedules, handle instructor inquiries, and find substitutes when needed.
• Instructor & Partner Communication - Ensure instructors are prepared, coordinate with recreation centres, and manage customer inquiries.
• Logistics & Supplies - Track inventory, order materials, and oversee equipment distribution.
• On-Site Support - Visit locations to support instructors and lead programming, if needed.
• Process & Operations Improvement - Streamline systems for supplies, equipment, and workflows.
• Staff Hiring & Training - Help onboard, train, and manage seasonal instructors.
• Marketing & Promotions - Assist with social media, create advertising, and community outreach.
• Operations Oversight - Step in when the Program Manager is unavailable

Qualifications (Required)

• Proven experience leading children's summer camps, after-school programs, or similar educational environments, including program development and delivery
• Skilled in training and managing staff, including mentoring and providing feedback
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Tech-savvy and comfortable using:
• Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word)
• Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail, Chat)
• Online scheduling apps
• Must be based in Victoria, BC, and able to provide occasional in-person support
• Must own a reliable vehicle for travel to program locations
• Must pass a criminal record check (cost covered by applicant)
• Valid Emergency First Aid & CPR C (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred Experience (Nice to Have!)

• Experience with STEM education curriculum development
• Familiarity with educational technology (e.g., robotics, Minecraft, laptops)
• Design skills using Canva.com
• Experience with marketing and promotion using social media platforms
