Application Development Group Manager

Job Responsibility:

The Applications Development Group Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Team. The overall objective of this role is to drive applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Background:

Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS) is an integral part of Citi's Institutional Clients group, serving public sector clients, corporates and financial institutions in over 90 countries. Our clients use a variety of products across Cash, Trade and Card solutions. Citi is committed to providing a globally consistent customer experience as well as complete visibility to invoices and fees. With products servicing clients in 90 countries, Billing functions issue over 100,000 invoices globally totaling over $1.6bn annually. Global Billing Operations and Technology has over 100 FTE across two Technology hubs (Mississauga and Pune) and two centralized operations hubs (Buffalo and India), supporting 43 countries currently. The operation is in the process of a multi-year global consolidation and standardization plan.

The role is part of the TTS Technology team. The incumbent will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of country rollout within Global Billing System. Manage overall Development cycle that helps build scalable and stable technology solutions that is growth-oriented, improves the customer experience resulting in Business growth and environment that allows faster country rollout. The individual will be responsible for defining Technology strategy and drive the implementation of a consistent delivery model that exceeds the expectations of our premium client base.

Responsibilities:

• Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)
• Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management and planning while monitoring end results
• Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues
• Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards
• Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals
• Provide evaluative judgement based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources
• Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
• Executes the architectural vision for all IT systems through major, complex IT architecture projects; ensures that architecture conforms to enterprise blueprints.
• Develops technology road maps, while keeping up to date with emerging technologies, and recommends business directions based on these technologies.
• Provides technical leadership and is responsible for developing components of, or the overall systems design.
• Translates complex business problems into sound technical solutions.
• Applies hardware engineering and software design theories and principles in researching, designing, and developing product hardware and software interfaces.
• Provides integrated systems planning and recommends innovative technologies that will enhance the current system.
• Recommends appropriate desktop, computer platform, and communication links required to support IT goals and strategy.
• Exhibits good knowledge of how own specialism contributes to the business and good understanding of competitors products and services.
• Acts as an advisor or mentor to junior team members.
• Requires sophisticated analytical thought to resolve issues in a variety of complex situations.
• Impacts the architecture function by influencing decisions through advice, counsel or facilitating services.
• Guides, influences and persuades others with developed communication and diplomacy skills.

Qualifications:

• 10-15 years of experience in Consulting / Business Analysis / Application Development
• Experience in Finance/Billing Domain
• Experience in Standard billing product like ORMB is a plus
• Experience with all phases of Software Development Life Cycle
• Comprehensive knowledge of the principles of business analysis
• Comprehensive knowledge of the principles of Application Development
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
• Management and prioritization skills
• Ability to develop working relationships
• Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities
• Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
• Self-starter with ability to take the initiative and master new tasks quickly
• Methodical, attention to detail

Education:

• Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
• Master's degree preferred
