Irving Shipbuilding is seeking a Supervisor, Tooling and Equipment in Halifax, NS
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage tool crib attendant crews, ensuring safe and efficient operations across production shifts.
- Drive a strong safety culture by enforcing procedures and ensuring no work begins without proper planning and safety documentation.
- Participate in daily production meetings to communicate tooling and equipment needs and updates.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant processes, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Monitor operations to maintain priorities and meet deliverables across departments.
- Support rigging, welding, outfitting, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical trades by ensuring timely access to tools and equipment.
- Oversee inventory and fleet support for tools, consumables, mobile equipment, and temporary services.
- Manage subcontractors for equipment rentals and temporary service needs.
- Provide coaching, training, and performance management for direct reports while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Technical Diploma, Red Seal certification, or equivalent trade designation.
- 5+ years of supervisory experience, including 2+ years in a production environment; shipbuilding or industrial repair preferred.
- Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
- Strong technical knowledge of industrial marine construction and repair.
- Proven leadership and time management abilities in high-paced environments.
- Skilled in team building, conflict resolution, and mentoring.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High emotional intelligence and sound judgment under pressure.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and inventory management systems.
- Committed to personal development and upholding company values.
