Staff Engineer (Toronto)

Sage Recruiting is looking for a Staff Engineer to join a fast-growing SaaS company in Vancouver (or Remote!).
The product redefines email communication and transaction by developing an online collaboration tool that optimizes our customers' workflow.
As a Staff Engineer, you will focus primarily on feature development while also providing technical leadership.
You will create sustainable, high‑performance, scalable solutions and solve challenging problems, collaborating with a global team to reinvent enterprise communication.
Responsibilities
- Lead feature development and contribute to overall technical direction.
- Design, build, and launch complex, multi‑tier distributed software applications.
- Ensure solutions are high‑performance, sustainable, and scalable.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to project teams as a hands‑on technical lead.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience building and implementing complex, multi‑tier distributed software applications.
- 5+ years of backend development experience with Java, Kotlin, Typescript, or Node.js.
- Experience developing SaaS platforms from design to product release in product‑first companies.
- Competent in designing and developing solutions to complex problems with significant impact.
- Experience conducting feasibility studies, modern technology research, and making optimal architectural decisions for complex business problems.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
Nice to Have
- 2+ years of frontend development experience using Typescript and React.
- Experience setting technical direction and leading project teams.
- Experience scaling distributed systems.
- Knowledge of functional programming.
