RVYC is currently seeking organized, detail-oriented professionals to join our team as Full-time or Part-time servers.

Position Summary

The Server is responsible for delivering an exceptional dining experience to members and guests through attentive, professional, and personalized service. Working under the direction of the F&B Supervisor, the Server manages assigned tables, provides knowledgeable menu and beverage guidance, and ensures that each guest experience reflects the high standards of the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club.

Servers work closely with kitchen staff, bartenders, Server Assistants, and expeditors to maintain efficient service flow and uphold the club’s reputation for hospitality and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Member & Guest Service

• Greet members and guests in a friendly and professional manner.
• Take accurate food and beverage orders and communicate them clearly to the kitchen and bar.
• Provide knowledgeable recommendations on menu items, daily features, and wines.
• Deliver food and beverages in a timely and professional manner.
• Monitor tables throughout service to anticipate member needs and ensure satisfaction.

Table Management

• Take ownership of assigned tables and ensure attentive service throughout the dining experience.
• Maintain communication with Server Assistants to ensure timely clearing and resetting of tables.
• Ensure tables are properly set and presentation standards are maintained.

Collaboration & Service Flow

• Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and attention to special requests.
• Coordinate with bartenders and service staff to maintain smooth service operations.
• Support team members in other outlets, including Banquets, when required.

Payment Processing

• Process member payments accurately using the point-of-sale system.
• Handle cash and card transactions responsibly and in accordance with club procedures.

Member Experience & Professionalism

• Address member concerns or service issues with professionalism and discretion.
• Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to club dress code and grooming standards.
• Demonstrate strong product knowledge of menu items, beverages, and club offerings.

Health & Safety

• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety policies.
• Ensure responsible alcohol service in accordance with Serving It Right guidelines.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Must have (or be willing to obtain) Serving It Right or equivalent certification.
• Previous experience as a server in an upscale restaurant or hospitality setting is advantageous.
• Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to exceed member and guest expectations.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with diverse clientele.
• Detail-oriented mindset and a commitment to maintaining a polished and organized workspace.
• Ability to remain composed under pressure while multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and payment handling.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Able to lift and carry items up to 30 lbs.
