Under the direction of the Team Leader, the Business Analyst (12 Month Term) will be accountable for a for a wide variety of technical focused work activities associated with the Nova Scotia Provincial Programs team. A large portion of this role is focused on implementing new or revised health service codes and/or claims adjudication system rules to support the current policy requirements. This work includes gathering business and client requirements, development of test cases and regression testing to support the various system changes. The Business Analyst is required to maintain current knowledge with respect to policy and procedure changes. The Business Analyst will liaise closely with Leadership, internal partners, as well as the client.

Key Responsibilities

• User acceptance testing of various applications related to claims payment and provider/resident eligibility. Includes development and maintenance of use cases. Maintain appropriate and organized documentation in relation to activities, planning, and outcomes.
• Implementation of fee and billing rule changes (requested both internally and externally) during bi-monthly migrations. Includes scoping of change requests, development, testing, and overnight release support. This includes, drafting documentation to capture relevant details of new/revised health service codes and claim adjudication rules as requested by the client.
• Support the development of external communications.
• Provide support for claim submission vendors. Includes necessary accreditation/re-accreditation of vendor software and troubleshooting technical issues.
• Works with the leadership team and team members to assist in successful completion of Change Requests and new business implementation with Provincial Programs - DHW/WCB. This includes working with business areas and IT resources to assess the business performance to determine appropriate solutions.
• Hold meetings with the business and leaders to discuss priority items, status and any potential issues. Will work directly with external clients such as the Department of Health as required.

Qualifications

Education: Post-secondary education, with a Diploma or Degree in a health-related or business field preferred.

Experience: Minimum of three years related business and/or work experience; Experience in the Medicare business environment and/or working in a project environment.

Language: English required, bilingualism (English and French) would be an asset.

Knowledge and Skills

• Strong oral and written communications skills and a demonstrated interest and success in analysis of data are required
• Attention to detail is a must.
• Ability to prioritize workload independently is required.
• Strong knowledge of Provincial Program related systems within Medavie; strong skills in Microsoft suite of products and similar applications.

Pay Range:

53,235 - 59,890 CAD

The Base Pay range may vary depending on the successful candidate or other relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and education/training. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Medavie employees may participate in various performance-based incentive programs. Payments under these programs are discretionary and subject to both individual and organizational results.
