Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking an experienced Accountant V for a 6-month contract opportunity with strong potential for extension or conversion. This role is based in Toronto, ON with a hybrid work model requiring four days onsite at 66 Wellington Street West.
The successful candidate will join the Product Control / Finance team and will play a key role in performing upfront financial analysis, balance sheet interpretation, and regional P&L review related to capital markets and banking operations. This position requires a hands-on accounting professional who can work closely with stakeholders across finance teams and contribute to process improvements related to financial reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities
•Perform detailed balance sheet analysis and ensure accuracy of financial reporting
•Review and interpret regional P&L results and underlying business drivers
•Support the Product Control / Finance team with upfront financial analysis
•Work closely with regional finance teams to understand entity structure, revenue transfers, and tax impacts
•Analyze financial data to identify variances, risks, and trends
•Assist with process changes related to financial reporting and analysis
•Collaborate with stakeholders across finance and business teams
•Support ad-hoc analytics, reporting, and documentation as required
•Maintain strong controls and ensure compliance with internal policies

Qualifications
•University degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (mandatory)
•Minimum 5+ years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in banking or financial services
•Strong experience working with balance sheets and regional P&L analysis
•Prior experience in the banking sector required
•Solid analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial data
•Experience interacting with finance stakeholders and cross-functional teams
•Knowledge of capital markets products is an asset
•Experience with regional tax, entity structures, or revenue transfer analysis is an asset
•Technical skills such as Excel macros, VBA, or Python scripting are considered an asset
•Professional designation such as CPA or CFA (nice to have)
