Job Description

As a Seasonal Server Assistant in Notch8 , you are an integral member of our restaurant team and play an important role in creating a polished, seamless and memorable dining experience. From preparing tables and service stations to supporting the delivery of food and beverages, anticipating guest and Server needs, and working alongside your fellow Notch8 colleagues, your attention to detail and genuine hospitality help ensure every guest feels welcomed and well cared for.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Consistently provide professional, friendly, engaging and personalized service in accordance with Fairmont service standards
• Set and reset tables and service stations according to established meal-period and presentation standards
• Prepare and maintain mise en place and side stations to ensure the team is ready for service
• Assist Servers with the timely and accurate delivery of water, bread, food, beverages, condiments and other service items
• Clear and crumb tables, replace settings and reset tables efficiently while minimizing disruption to guests
• Anticipate the needs of guests and Servers throughout the dining experience and respond promptly to requests within the scope of the position
• Monitor and replenish china, glassware, flatware, linen and other service supplies
• Communicate table status, guest requests, dietary restrictions, allergies and service priorities clearly and accurately to Servers, Culinary colleagues and leaders
• Maintain clean, organized, safe and properly stocked dining areas, service stations and workspaces
• Assist with opening and closing duties, side work, and seasonal, special-event and private-dining setups as required
• Build and maintain working knowledge of Notch8 menus, beverage offerings, seasonal promotions and relevant hotel services and programs
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, workplace health and safety, departmental and hotel procedures
• Follow Fairmont and Accor brand standards, and the provisions of the applicable Collective Agreement
• Maintain professional appearance, grooming, hygiene and uniform standards
• Participate in required briefings, meetings, training, coaching and service excellence initiatives
• Promptly report hazards, incidents, injuries, damaged equipment, and maintenance or security concerns
• Support responsible use of supplies and resources, including appropriate handling, storage and waste-reduction practices
• Perform other duties reasonably assigned that are consistent with the nature, classification and scope of the position

Qualifications

What You Bring to the Role

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in the details, and thrives as part of a busy restaurant team.

• Previous experience in a restaurant, banquet, cafeteria, or hospitality environment, with luxury hotel or upscale restaurant experience considered an asset
• Strong guest-service orientation with a warm, professional, and attentive approach
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
• Valid FoodSafe Level 1 certification, or the ability to obtain it within the timeframe required by the hotel
• Serving It Right certification is an asset
• Basic knowledge of food and beverage service and restaurant operations
• Ability to safely and efficiently carry trays, food, beverages, and service items in a busy restaurant environment
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
• Organized, reliable, and attentive to detail
• Ability to prioritize and remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment with changing service demands
• Commitment to Fairmont service, food safety, workplace safety, and operational standards
• Professional appearance and grooming in accordance with hotel standards
• Full availability throughout the seasonal contract period, including evenings, weekends, statutory holidays, and rotating shifts as required
• Availability throughout peak festive periods, including Christmas and New Year, based on operational requirements

Physical Demands & Operational Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
• Frequent bending, reaching, carrying, pushing, pulling, and repetitive movement
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 14 kg (30 lb), using appropriate equipment or assistance where required and following safe handling procedures
• Ability to safely carry trays and other service items
• Ability to work effectively in a busy, fast-paced and sometimes noisy restaurant environment

About the Seasonal Opportunity

This is a seasonal position anticipated to run from November 2026 through January 2, 2027, with hours and scheduling based on business and operational requirements. Full availability throughout the seasonal period, particularly during Christmas and New Year, is important to support Notch8 during our peak festive season.
