Medical Radiation Technologist I (Grande Prairie)

Overview

Position: Medical Radiation Technologist I – Diagnostic Imaging, Grande Prairie Regional Hospital. You will perform standard technical radiological imaging examinations on patients to assist in disease and pathology diagnosis. You will interpret physician requisitions, prepare and assess patients for examination, and produce high quality diagnostic images for physician/radiologist review. You will assist with the care and maintenance of equipment. Work may include general and portable radiography, mobile and surgical suite examinations, and fluoroscopy where required.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of radiographic examinations and procedures as assigned in accordance with approved protocols.
• Interpret requisitions, prepare patients, position and immobilize as needed, and ensure high-quality diagnostic images for review.
• Assist with the care and maintenance of radiology equipment and related supplies.
• Collaborate with physicians, radiologists, and other health care professionals to support patient diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment planning.
• Adhere to safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements, including radiation protection principles.
• Document procedures and maintain accurate patient records in the health information system.

Qualifications

• Required Qualifications:
• Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program.
• Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with physicians, nurses, allied health staff, and other hospital departments.
• Evidence of effective decision making and collaboration in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Connect Care or other electronic health record systems.
• Previous experience in a Regional Hospital setting.
