Director of Finance

Our not-for-profit client is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Director of Finance to join their team. Work Arrangement

In-office in Kitchener-Waterloo. 40 hours/week.

Responsibilities

• Oversee budgeting, financial reporting, and manage the organization's finances effectively.
• Oversee financial planning and analysis for capital campaigns and fundraising efforts.
• Maintain the GL and all accounts by effectively managing bookkeeping, reconciliations, journal entries, etc.
• Ensure that all statutory requirement are met.
• Identify and implement technological solutions, such as transitioning from manual processes to enhance efficiency.
• Provide financial and planning guidance to the CEO and leadership team to drive business forward.
• Lead and manage one direct report responsible for payments, AR, and AP.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience, ideally in a non-profit setting.
• CPA highly preferred.
• Experience managing the full scope of finance including month-end, year-end, audit, budgeting, forecasting, governance, and operational finance.
• Open to candidates from public accounting at the Manager level, particularly those with non-profit client experience.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse leadership team members.
• Humility, kindness, and a collaborative 'business partner' mindset.
• Strong aptitude for growth, with the potential to take on IT and operational responsibilities.
