- Leadership & Governance: Lead and facilitate effective board meetings; develop agendas with the Executive Director; ensure the board operates within its governance framework, adheres to bylaws, and maintains accountability to stakeholders.
- Strategic Guidance: Partner with the Executive Director to drive implementation of strategic goals; foster a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and collaboration.
- Board Performance & Development: Hold directors accountable to engagement, fundraising, and attendance expectations; oversee recruitment, onboarding, and development; ensure a diverse and skilled board composition.
- Advocacy & Representation: Serve as a lead ambassador for Zamar; build relationships with stakeholders, sponsors, funders, and community partners.
- Executive Support: Conduct regular check-ins with the Executive Director; act as a sounding board on initiatives and challenges; support succession planning.
- Proven leadership experience, preferably in a board or governance setting
- Strong understanding of nonprofit governance and strategic planning
- Background in music, arts, culture, or the wellness sector is an asset
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
