Senior Analyst, Business Processes, Controls and Compliance

The Senior Analyst, Business Processes, Controls and Compliance will be responsible to oversee Market Risk compliance program as a 2b function. As part of the Market Risk Governance team in the second line of defense, the Senior Analyst will maintain the Market Risk PRC, manage the regulatory inventory and critically assess the unit's internal controls. The individual will require to collaborate with various stakeholders within 1st and 2nd line of defense.

Specific accountabilities for the role include:

• Working closely with Market Risk functions and acts as a trusted advisor with internal/external stakeholders.

• Executes Monitoring and Testing program (M&T), communicates outcomes, prepares test results report and recommends action plans (if any issue is identified).

• Reviews process and identify opportunities for risk mitigation through proposing new controls or revising existing controls.

• Assists in the development and maintenance of the M&T plan and regulatory inventory

• Assists in the development and maintenance of the Market Risk Processes, Risks and Controls (documents the internal control governance system, processes and framework to describe compliance requirements, activities, processes, roles & responsibilities, etc...)

• Assist with internal/external regulatory audits and/or examinations (as needed)

• Assists in the preparation of decks for various Forum and/or Committee

• Coordinates and participates in the execution of oversight/governance activities including reporting and review/updates to policies, SOPs etc.

• Assists with quarterly attestations (CRO attestation, SOX attestation)

• Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of business and related risk management requirements and legislative/regulatory directives and guidance.

• Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.

• Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.

• Provides quality assurance, advice and guidance to the 2a Market Risk function on governance related topics, including effective challenge.

• Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

• Qualifications:

• Typically, between 4 - 6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Experience in risk management, audit, compliance, governance is preferred.

• In-depth knowledge of business and regulatory environment.

• In-depth knowledge & experience with risk policy frameworks; quality control/testing frameworks. e.g. SOX 404, COBIT and COSO frameworks.

• Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.

Salary:

$60,000.00 - $111,700.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.
