What is a day in the life of an FA Rehabilitation Assistant?
You will treat individuals experiencing various neurological, orthopedic disorders, and mental health injuries.
You will collaborate with supervising therapists to assist clients with establishing and meeting meaningful goals in a variety of settings including client homes, their local community, community centres, gyms, public libraries, etc.
You will liaise with a variety of community partners and rehab professionals (OTs, PTs, SLPs, SWs, etc.) Physiotherapy Assistant/Occupational Therapy Assistant diploma from a recognized community college, or other equivalent
Two years of relevant OTA/PTA experience is required
Knowledge of the rehabilitation approach to client care and the roles of OT, PT and SLP
Experience with rehabilitation services (hospital, clinic, community), pool therapy and/or personal training certifications are all assets
Excellent computer skills (i.e. ability to work in MS Word and Outlook)
Please note you will be fully supported by Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Social Workers and other allied health professionals.
