This is a temporary position with an expected end date of February 8, 2027.
Purpose The primary purpose of this job is to support the Calgary Board of Education's (CBE) compliance with Provincial regulatory framework in order to maximize the grant funding received, which enables student success. This job is responsible for assisting the Supervisor in the preparation of data, documents and financial information for securing provincial grants, federal funding, and any other revenue available to the Board.
Accountability This job is accountable for facilitating CBE's accurate and timely remittance of information in support of Alberta Education's funding compliance reviews in a manner that minimizes administrative work at schools and reduces the risk of losing the maximum funding available to the CBE. Also, engaging with stakeholders, such as Alberta Education, Student Information Systems (SIS), and schools, to identify, develop, and implement more efficient and effective ways for CBE to meet accountability requirements regarding funding.
Manages CBE's response to Alberta Education's funding compliance reviews by:

Monitoring and reporting on funding compliance review progress.
Develops and maintains an in-depth understanding of the grant funding regulatory framework, including relevant acts, regulations, and guidelines that impact the receipt of student funding.
Engages with stakeholders to establish appropriate metrics and key performance indicators for CBE to track progress of current and future funding compliance review cycles.
Formulates and communicates the financial and administrative impact of funding compliance reviews on CBE.
Develops and maintains an understanding of how various systems, such as PowerSchool, PASI, and FES, interact to determine funding, how these tools can be leveraged to automate aspects of this work in the future, and provides written recommendations to leaders.
SIS, Student Records, and policy development staff) to review and improve student funding processes, evaluate effectiveness, and implement best practices for administrative regulations (AR)
Serves as a primary point of contact for other CBE departments, including Welcome Center, Legal, School Improvements, and schools between Alberta Education.
Transfers Provincial funding for Calgary-resident students attending an Alberta Education-approved school in another province. Tracks and ensures payment is received from Alberta Education and forwards the funds to the school on behalf of the CBE student.
Completes funding paperwork for students who reside on the Nation and attend a CBE school. This includes working closely with the Nation and Indigenous Services Canada to ensure accurate student data is captured and federal funding flows appropriately to the Board.
Investigates and verifies student enrolment, including each student's individual attendance and program information, when in conflict with other jurisdictions identified by Education, to ensure CBE receives funding from Alberta Education.
Analyzes and assists in the preparation of the corporate revenue year-end working papers, which include all government funds, unearned revenues, and variance analysis of budget versus actual.
Actively participates in pilot projects and systemic initiatives undertaken to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Calgary Board of Education Financial System.
~ University degree in a business-related discipline.
Completion of or working towards certification in a professional designation program (CMA, CGA, CA, CPA) is considered an asset.
Public sector experience is considered an asset.
Internal audit experience is considered an asset.
Change management experience is considered an asset.
Excellent proficiency working with large, complex data management systems along with desktop tools such as spreadsheets is required.
Strong leadership, coaching, engagement, and influencing skills.
