About CGAI The Canadian Global Affairs Institute (CGAI) is an independent, non-partisan think tank focused on Canada’s role in international affairs, including defence, trade, foreign relations, and energy policy. We convene experts, decision-makers, and the public to support informed policy discussion through events, publications, and partnerships.
The Calgary Operations Coordinator will play a key role in planning and delivering CGAI programming in Calgary and in supporting the organization’s national operations. This role combines event coordination, operational support, bookkeeping, and grant administration. Event Coordination & Planning
Lead planning and execution of Calgary-based events focused on defence, trade, and foreign relations
Support planning and delivery of events in Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, and other locations focused on defence, trade, and foreign relations
Support Calgary office operations including basic bookkeeping, vendor engagement, invoicing, and tracking expenses
Lead initial drafting of grant applications and identify new funding opportunities
Collaborate with senior staff to maintain strong relationships with funders and supporters
Undergraduate degree or diploma in a relevant discipline
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., International Relations, Political Science, Public Policy, or related field) is an asset, though not mandatory
- 1–3+ years of experience, including internships, with preference for experience in event coordination, grants administration, and/or bookkeeping
- Familiarity with Microsoft applications and software
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate across teams and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
