Within the confines of our site building the Overhead Crane Operator will safely and efficiently operate an overhead crane by remote control to transfer various steel products (coil sheet pipe and bar) and other commodities that arrive at our facility by truck or rail to our valued customers.
Unloading steel products from railcars/trucks.
Support inventory control with accurate documentation.
Accurately verify weight information off manifest to not exceed limit and document inventory.
Provide production data on tags or labels.
Work in adherence to all safe work practices procedures as well as all regulatory requirements.
Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of yard shop department or work crew.
Previous relevant experience required
Chain sling and rigging experience and/or previous overhead crane certification preferred
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions (snow rain sub-freezing temps heat wind)
Solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
