Research Assistant, Remote

We are seeking a Research Assistant (RA) for a project about Traditional Knowledge on climate change in environmental and socioeconomic impact assessments in Yukon. While this project is supported through the Department of Anthropology at the University of Toronto Mississauga, the RA will work remotely from Yukon and will be required to attend meetings in Whitehorse regularly.
Duties include:
Searching, selecting and synthesizing information from a variety of sources (e.g. reports, research articles, websites) for committee meetings, grant applications, research agreements, research ethics board submissions, and other research work. The RA will be organized, detail-oriented, and able to sift through a high volume of information.
Taking detailed and accurate minutes for long information-intensive research committee meetings (4 hours or more for each meeting, with several breaks), 4 to 6 times per year, both in-person and over Zoom. The RA will have the ability to keep pace, focus, and attention for several information-intensive hours in meetings.
There are 4 in-person committee meetings per year in Whitehorse, with several breaks and refreshments and lunch provided. The RA will assist with the organization and clean-up for these meetings.
It is preferable for the RA to be based in Whitehorse so that the commute is reasonable for in-person meetings. This is a remote working position (the RA will need to provide their own workspace, such as a home office, etc). They will need a high-speed internet connection and their own computer to do this work.
Time period:
~10 hours a week, for an initial period of 6 months, with the possibility of renewal.

Minimum/ Required Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in third or fourth year of undergraduate studies at Yukon University, or a student (undergraduate or graduate) at any University in Canada, but based in Whitehorse, Yukon.
Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Desirable Qualifications:
Background or experience in Social Sciences or Arts.
Experience or knowledge of the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board (YESAB) process, such as supporting a Yukon First Nations community in collecting information for an environmental impact assessment.
