Contract Specialist I

The contract specialist will oversee contract performance and conducts financial and technical due diligence for nuclear and hydroelectric generation facilities. Key responsibilities include participating in contract review and oversight meetings, preparing summaries, progress reports, and meeting minutes, and monitoring performance metrics against contractual obligations. Additional duties include developing and improving tools, databases, and processes for tracking and reporting costs and operational requirements, reviewing counterparties’ notices and proposals, and identifying concerns through due diligence. The Specialist will also support technical experts by providing relevant facts and documentation, monitor technical information related to project scope and timing, and collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure compliance with sound engineering and operating practices.
The role requires strong problem-solving and analytical skills, experience in contract interpretation and management, and the ability to lead projects while coordinating resources. Candidates should have advanced Excel proficiency with experience building and maintaining models, strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement, and solid knowledge of Ontario and North American electricity markets and regulatory environments. Familiarity with analytical tools and the regulated framework is an asset.
