Established in 1983, Tristar has developed specialized in-pavement inset lighting installation techniques that have created new standards employed in airport construction worldwide. Providing a full turnkey solution for your airfield needs from design, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting. Tristar’s notable airport electric projects include: the Toronto Pearson International Airport; the New Quito International Airport, Ecuador; Winnipeg’s James Armstrong Richardson International Airport; John’s International Airport, Newfoundland; Estimator, the Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating the cost of labour, equipment and materials for supply and installation, as well as accountability for the direction, preparation and documentation of work completion estimates for Airfield Electrical & Communications Infrastructure construction projects.

Shared accountability for the overall financial performance of projects awarded.
Reviews project sites prior to price preparation.
Collaborates effectively with Operations, PMO and Owners staff as appropriate.
Obtains pricing from Suppliers/Subcontractors and incorporates it into estimates.
Formulates all costs for tender submission, including labour, equipment, material, rentals, and subcontracts.
Oversees the distribution of appropriate documentation upon award of project.
Maintains files and correspondence on active and completed projects.
Provides technical support to field staff as appropriate.
Incorporates and complies with Aecon’s risk management policies and procedures.
Drives positive relationships with Clients, Consultants, and key Subcontractors.
Maintains estimating data systems to ensure they are kept up to date.
Assists in the training of new estimating staff as appropriate.
Performs repetitive movement (data entry).
Drives an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.

Diploma/Degree in Civil, Construction, Electrical, or Business.
Minimum 2 years of estimating/operational experience in Electrical Infrastructure.
Understanding of airfield electrical & communication systems is an asset.
Construction site experience is considered an asset.
Skills that allow for working independently with little supervision.
Prior operational experience is an asset.
Ability to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents.
Thorough knowledge of contract language, terms and conditions, bonding, etc.
Good knowledge of job cost fundamentals and accounting/reporting.
Strong computer skills, including MS Excel, Word, Project and estimating software.
Adaptable to a flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.
Professional designation is an asset (P.Be a champion of inclusion and diversity.
