Are you a creative self-starter full of ideas? Able to juggle breaking news with longer pieces that delve into meaning and implication? The successful candidate will be an excellent writer who can break news, help set the agenda, define trends and see the big picture.

For this position, we are looking for a collaborative and flexible journalist who adapts easily to new contexts, platforms and publishing tools.

The successful applicant will work in the Montreal bureau of The Canadian Press, writing in English and primarily covering breaking news and features.

Experience in producing audio and video clips will be considered an asset.

Write, edit and gather multimedia content for CP’s various services (print, digital, broadcast and video)

Report breaking news with speed and rock-solid accuracy

Monitor news outlets, social media and other sources to stay on top of news across Quebec

Aggressively uncover news from a variety of sources

Experience with digital publishing tools, including video

Strong news judgment and commitment to accuracy and fairness

Bilingual in English and French

Ability to both report and edit independently

Exceptional ability to track down information by phone, in person, online and through freedom of information laws

A track record of featuring a diversity of voices in reporting

Proven ability to use social media as an effective newsgathering tool

This position reports to the Quebec-Atlantic bureau chief at The Canadian Press and requires occasional shift work and travel.

Vous êtes une personne créative, pleine d'idées et capable de jongler avec les nouvelles de dernière heure et les reportages de fond analysant le sens et les implications des événements? Pour ce poste, nous sommes à la recherche d’un(e) journaliste flexible apte à travailler en équipe et à s'adapter facilement à de nouveaux contextes, plateformes et outils de reportage.

La personne retenue travaillera en anglais principalement à la couverture des nouvelles de dernière heure et à la rédaction de documentaires au bureau de Montréal de La Presse Canadienne.

L’expérience en production de clips audio et vidéo sera considérée comme un atout

Rédiger, réviser et rassembler du contenu multimédia pour les différents services de la PC (écrit, numérique, radio et vidéo)

Surveiller les médias d'information, les réseaux sociaux et d'autres sources pour rester au courant de l'actualité partout au Québec

Expérience des outils de reportage numérique, y compris la vidéo

Maîtrise de l’anglais et du français

Habileté exceptionnelle d’obtenir de l’information au téléphone, en personne, en ligne et en vertu des lois d’accès à l’information

Capacité avérée à utiliser les réseaux sociaux comme outil efficace de collecte d’informations

Ce poste relève du chef du bureau Québec-Atlantique et comporte des quarts de travail et des déplacement occasionnels.
